About Anysphere Inc.
Anysphere, Inc. is a San Francisco software company that develops Cursor, an AI-assisted code editor and set of coding agents. Its website describes the company as an applied research lab working on the future of programming. Cursor is built as a fork of Microsoft's VS Code and lets developers write code from prompts, ask questions about a codebase.
The company was founded in 2022 by Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark and Aman Sanger, who met at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Truell is chief executive. According to TechNews, citing Forbes, Lunnemark left in October 2025 to found Integrous Research, an AI safety lab.
Cursor runs as a desktop app, a command-line agent and inside Slack, and its cloud agents run tasks autonomously. The company sells to individuals, teams and enterprises, and its Bugbot tool reviews pull requests. NVIDIA, Uber and Adobe were named as customers when it announced its Series C, and its site shows customer stories from Nokia, Grab, Navan and Basis.
Anysphere raised an $8 million seed round led by the OpenAI Startup Fund in October 2023 and a $60 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz in August 2024. A $105 million Series B with Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and Benchmark followed in January 2025, a $900 million Series C in June 2025 at a $9.9 billion valuation, and a $2.3 billion Series D in November 2025 at a $29.3 billion post-money valuation. At the Series D the company reported more than $1 billion in annualised revenue and a team of over 300.
Cursor brought in the code-completion company Supermaven in November 2024 and agreed to acquire the code review platform Graphite in December 2025. TechCrunch reported that SpaceX took an option to buy the company for $60 billion in April 2026 and agreed the all-stock purchase in June. Cursor announced on 14 August 2026 that the acquisition had closed, making Anysphere a SpaceX subsidiary.
Cursor's security page, updated in August 2026, says the company holds AIUC-1, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certifications and a SOC 2 Type II attestation.
