About Americana Restaurants
Americana Restaurants International PLC runs quick-service and casual dining restaurants across the Middle East, North Africa and Kazakhstan. Its website describes it as the largest restaurant operator in that region by number of restaurants. The company lists its address in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, operates in 12 countries and reported 2,749 restaurants at 31 December 2025, the website puts it at 2,746 as of 30 June 2026.
The company says it has operated for more than 50 years. It dates KFC's entry into the regional quick-service market to 1973, its first Pizza Hut in the UAE to 1979 and its Krispy Kreme franchise rights to 2006. Its investor page says Adeptio acquired the business in 2016 and names the Public Investment Fund and Mohamed Alabbar as its two backers. Alabbar chairs the board. Amarpal Sandhu is chief executive, and the company says he has led the former parent's restaurant business since 2019. Rahul Mathur is chief financial officer.
The portfolio includes KFC, Pizza Hut, Hardee's, Krispy Kreme, Peet's Coffee, Wimpy, TGI Friday's, Costa Coffee and Baskin Robbins, plus the carpo brand added in 2025 and Malak Al Tawouk in 2026. The company says its customer platform includes 22 proprietary apps.
In December 2022 Wimpy relaunched in the UAE at Dubai Mall, with a robot named Flippy 2 working in the kitchen, and in January 2023 the first Peet's Coffee in the Middle East opened at the same mall. During the first nine months of 2025 the company opened 68 stores and took in 46 Pizza Hut restaurants in Oman.
Americana listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and the Saudi Exchange in 2022. For 2025 it reported revenue of $2,508.8 million, up 14.2 percent, and net profit of $219.1 million, up 38 percent, and the board is to consider a dividend of $201.6 million.
