About Al-Nassr
Al-Nassr is a professional football club based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that plays in the Saudi Pro League. It has played at Al-Awwal Park, which seats about 25,000, since 2020. The football business is run through a club company owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Wikipedia dates the club's founding to 24 October 1955 and credits the Al-Ja'ba brothers as its founders. It reached the first division in 1963 and is one of three clubs that have never been relegated from the Saudi top flight. Wikipedia counts 30 competitive honours, including 11 league titles and the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, and says Al-Nassr became the first Asian club to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
In June 2023 the PIF took 75 percent of Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli under the Sports Clubs Investment and Privatisation Project, with a non-profit foundation holding the other 25 percent, Sportcal reported. In August 2026 the sports ministry said it had begun moving the foundation stakes in the four clubs to the PIF, according to MENA Startup Digest. TechScoop reported on 10 June 2026 that three conglomerates were reportedly competing for a 70 percent controlling stake in Al-Nassr; no sale has been officially announced.
The club signed Cristiano Ronaldo on 30 December 2022, and in June 2025 it announced a two-year extension to 2027, Al Jazeera reported. In June 2023 Al-Nassr agreed a three-season platinum sponsorship with King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company, a firm wholly owned by the PIF.
On 22 May 2026 Al-Nassr won the Saudi Pro League with 86 points after a 4-1 win over Damac, its first league title since 2019, Khaleej Times reported. Wikipedia lists José Semedo as acting chief executive since July 2025. Abdullah Al-Majed, president since October 2024, said in July 2026 that he would leave at the end of his term, and Goal reported on 5 October 2026 that Ahmed Al-Sultan, a retail executive, had taken over the presidency of the football company, with finances and sponsorship among the matters awaiting him.
