About ADQ
ADQ is an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, established in 2018 and wholly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi. Its portfolio spans energy and utilities, food and agriculture, healthcare, mobility and logistics, financial services and advanced manufacturing. According to ADQ, its portfolio companies collectively employ more than 110,000 people. Named holdings reported in secondary sources include Abu Dhabi Ports, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company and, through PureHealth, a healthcare group that listed in 2023. In December 2025 ADQ closed a USD 5 billion five-year term loan with Asian lenders. The facility was launched at USD 4 billion and was oversubscribed by roughly USD 12 billion before ADQ raised it to USD 5 billion. More than 30 financial institutions from Greater China, covering the mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, committed. Bank of China (Dubai Branch), DBS, HSBC, ICBC (Dubai Branch), Standard Chartered (Hong Kong) and J.P. Morgan Securities acted as global coordinators. ADQ described it as its first financing in the Greater China region and said it was the largest term loan taken by a Middle Eastern borrower from Asian institutions. The company said the loan diversifies its funding mix, strengthens liquidity and gives flexibility to pursue investments. It is a debt financing, not an equity round. ADQ has been an active acquirer. Its board reviewed a voluntary tender offer for logistics group Aramex in early 2025, and an October 2025 WAM report described the acquisition of a 35 percent stake in Limagrain Vegetable Seeds, linked to food-security goals. Other reported commitments include a USD 1.2 billion joint venture with Orion Resource Partners for critical minerals and, alongside Modon Holding, a USD 35 billion commitment to the Ras El-Hekma coastal development in Egypt. A May 2025 report said ADQ had roughly doubled its assets in four years to about USD 251 billion and that it looks for majority or full-control stakes. In December 2025 ADQ also announced a partnership with the Gates Foundation on AI and education technology. Bloomberg reported in January 2026 that Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, ADQ's managing director and group chief executive officer since 2019, was stepping down to become executive chairman and managing partner of Lunate. Abu Dhabi's media office has also reported a resolution to consolidate L'IMAD Holding and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Group assets and investments.
