Abhi

Abhi is a Karachi headquartered financial wellness and embedded finance company that pioneered earned wage access (EWA) in Pakistan, enabling employees to withdraw accrued but unpaid salary in under 30 seconds via app, SMS, or debit card, at a flat transaction fee with no cost to employers and automatic deduction from the next payroll cycle. The company addresses the pervasive financial stress of Pakistan's salaried workforce, where fewer than 2 million people have access to formal credit and the majority depend on month-end pay cycles, by providing a Shariah-compliant alternative to high-interest credit cards and informal lending. Founded in April 2021 by Omair Ansari, a former Morgan Stanley portfolio manager, and Ali Ladhubhai, a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of KarloCompare, Abhi was selected for Y Combinator's Summer 2021 cohort and has since expanded its product suite to include AbhiSalary, AbhiPayroll (processing and financing), Abhikaarobar (SME financing), AbhiPay, and invoice factoring for businesses. In 2023 Abhi became the first fintech in Pakistan to issue a PKR 2 billion Sukuk bond, and in 2024 it jointly acquired FINCA Microfinance Bank with TPL Corp Limited, rebranding it as Abhi Microfinance Bank, gaining over one million users and more than 120 branches, making it the first Pakistani fintech to acquire and operate a microfinance bank. The company now operates across Pakistan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, serves more than 750,000 employees through partnerships with over 1,000 companies, and has raised approximately 50 million dollars in combined debt and equity capital to date.
