About ريفرلين
Riverlane is a quantum computing company based in Cambridge, UK, that develops error correction technology for quantum computers. Its Deltaflow product combines proprietary quantum error correction chips with hardware and software, and the company says it works with all major types of qubit. Wikidata describes the company under the name River Lane Research.
Steve Brierley founded Riverlane in 2016 and is its chief executive. The Cambridge Independent reported in January 2024 that the company is based at St Andrew's House in central Cambridge and that Brierley had been awarded an OBE for services to quantum computing. He holds a PhD in quantum information, spent a decade in the intelligence community and was a senior research fellow at the University of Cambridge, where he led quantum computing research projects. Cambridge Enterprise said in August 2024 that the company's error correction team had close to 100 experts.
In 2020 Riverlane led a consortium that received a 7.6 million pound government grant to build a quantum operating system, Deltaflow.OS. The company has named Rigetti Computing, Alice and Bob, QuEra Computing, Infleqtion, Atlantic Quantum, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the UK's National Quantum Computing Centre as partners.
Riverlane raised 15 million pounds in a Series B round in April 2023. On 6 August 2024 it announced a Series C of 75 million dollars, about 64 million pounds, led by Planet First Partners. ETF Partners and the Singapore-based investor EDBI joined as new investors, and Cambridge Innovation Capital, Amadeus Capital Partners, the UK's National Security Strategic Investment Fund and Altair took part as existing investors. eeNews Europe reported that total funding had reached more than 122 million dollars, including backing from the European Commission.
Riverlane said the Series C would fund its error correction roadmap and hiring across hardware and software engineering, quantum science and operations. That roadmap targets one million error-free quantum operations as early as the end of 2026. TechScoop's July 2026 coverage describes Riverlane as a Cambridge Innovation Capital company that develops error correction technology and software for quantum computers.
