About ليمب

Limb is a health tech startup based in Abu Dhabi that uses artificial intelligence to bring physiotherapy into patients' homes. Its platform offers remote patient monitoring and personalised rehabilitation, extending care beyond the clinic. The idea came from founder Shamma Alsaedi, an Emirati graduate of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), who saw her mother and grandmother leave physiotherapy sessions with a sheet of exercises and little follow-up. For her master's thesis she surveyed 80 physiotherapy patients in the UAE and found that 71 per cent were not doing their home exercises consistently, or at all. Aisha Alraeesi, also an MBZUAI graduate, co-founded the company and serves as chief technology officer. The product has two sides. A practitioner builds a programme in a clinic dashboard, using their own demonstration videos, and sends it to the patient through a mobile app. While the patient exercises, the AI compares their movement against a 3D model, corrects posture, offers tips and flags significant problems. Therapists can use Limb's API to follow progress, spot incorrect technique or high pain levels and adjust plans. Limb won first place in the Future Pioneers category of the Entrepreneurship Challenge 2024, a Ministry of Education competition, beating more than 300 projects, according to MBZUAI. At the time the founder said the next steps were to build a minimum viable product of the app and API within six months and partner with a hospital for clinical testing. In 2026 Limb joined the first MZN Hub71 programme, one of 17 Emirati founder ventures chosen from more than 370 applications. The twelve-week course is run by Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development and Hub71 from the MZN Hub in Al Ain, and supported founders through workshops, panels and pitch clinics on product development, AI strategy, fundraising and go-to-market planning. At the first MZN Hub71 Demo Day, Limb took first place and an award of up to AED 100,000, about USD 27,200. The prize is in-kind support, a package of services, resources and access, rather than a cash investment. Second and third places, Reach LLM and Hign Al Khaleej, received AED 60,000 and AED 40,000.
