About كايو

KAIO is an onchain infrastructure provider for tokenised institutional funds, based in Abu Dhabi Global Market. It describes itself as a protocol built for real-world assets. It offers tokenised access to funds from established asset managers and loans against fund tokens through smart contracts. Access is limited to qualified institutional and accredited investors in certain jurisdictions.

The company began as Libre, announced on 10 February 2024 by WebN Group and Nomura-backed Laser Digital, with Dr. Avtar Sehra as founder and chief executive. Libre used a dedicated chain built with Polygon's chain development kit and went live in March 2024. In July 2025 it rebranded as KAIO, saying it had brought more than USD 200 million of assets onchain. Shrey Rastogi is now chief executive, Olivier Dang is chief operating officer, and Dr. Pinku Surana, a co-founder of Ondo Finance, joined as chief technology officer in October 2025.

KAIO's website lists five tokenised funds: the BlackRock ICS US Dollar Liquidity Fund, the Hamilton Lane Senior Credit Opportunities Fund, the Laser Digital Carry Fund, the Brevan Howard Master Fund and the Mubadala Capital Alternatives Solution Fund. Its blog reports launches on Base, Solana, Sui, Sei, Injective, Aptos, Hedera and Polygon.

In December 2024 Libre signed a memorandum of understanding with First Abu Dhabi Bank for collateralised lending against its tokens. In October 2025 KAIO launched BlackRock, Brevan Howard and Hamilton Lane tokenised funds on Sei. Mubadala Capital and KAIO announced in December 2025 that they would explore tokenised access to Mubadala's private market strategies, and on 23 July 2026 KAIO launched one of them on Base, Solana and Sui with about USD 75 million of onchain value at launch.

On 20 April 2026 KAIO announced a USD 8 million strategic round backed by Tether and Systemic Ventures, bringing total funding to USD 19 million. Existing investors named were Further Ventures, Laser Digital, Brevan Howard Digital, Lyrik Ventures, Karatage and Shorooq Partners. The company said it had processed more than USD 500 million in cumulative fund transactions.
