About إنوفاتك
InnovaTech is a Tunisian investment fund that invests directly in small and medium-sized companies. It is managed by Smart Capital, a management company approved by the Conseil du marché financier that also runs ANAVA, the fund of funds that invests indirectly in startups, and implements the Startup Tunisia programme.
According to Smart Capital's website, the fund received its approval, numbered 48-2021, on 23 July 2021 and the visa of the Conseil du marché financier on 21 December 2021. The page says InnovaTech was the first fund in Tunisia to take the form of a specialised investment fund. Its target size is TND 125 million. The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations is described as lead backer and sponsor, and the fund is supported by a World Bank loan of USD 75 million, of which USD 17 million goes to InnovaTech and USD 3 million to a support pool for SMEs.
The fund plans to hold 40 to 50 SMEs in their development phase that are more than two years old and employ fewer than 200 people. Its minimum ticket is TND 1 million, the first investment is capped at TND 2.5 million and follow-on investments can reach TND 7 million, for a target stake of 15 to 40 percent of a company's capital. It takes minority positions alongside other shareholders, usually as lead investor, holds them for five to seven years and often starts with convertible bonds before moving to equity. Target areas include health and education technology, finance, green technology, agritech, manufacturing and e-commerce.
The investment committee has two Smart Capital representatives and three private-sector members, and a strategic committee has three institutional members and four private-sector members. Tarak Triki is listed as Managing Director and Sarra El Mokhtar as Fund Director.
In September 2026 TechScoop reported that the Startups and SMEs project, run by the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations with Smart Capital, was taking InnovaTech, described as the SME window, and ANAVA to Le Kef, Monastir, Gafsa and Zarzis.
