About هاودن ري

Howden Re is the reinsurance, capital markets and strategic advisory arm of Howden, a privately owned insurance broking group. It places reinsurance across all lines of business and also provides strategic advisory, risk advisory, banking, analytics and rating agency services. Its website says it has a global team of more than 1,000 people and lists tools including NOVA, TigerEye, Cat Watch, Cyber Watch and UNREST.

Howden acquired the reinsurance broker TigerRisk in January 2023, and the business traded as Howden Tiger. Howden announced in April 2024 that the unit would be renamed Howden Re, following the group's October 2023 move to a single brand. The announcement said Howden Re had gross written premiums of 14.5 billion dollars for 2023, nearly 900 professionals in 30 countries, and 25 percent organic growth. David Howden is chief executive of the group, and Tim Ronda is chief executive of Howden Re, where Elliot Richardson is executive chair.

In the Middle East, Howden Re received a full reinsurance licence from the Dubai Financial Services Authority on 6 August 2025, allowing it to operate from the Dubai International Financial Centre. Julian Samengo-Turner, head of IMEA, and Attilio Tornetta, newly named head of treaty and regional retrocession for the Middle East and Africa, co-lead the Dubai operations. The same announcement described a planned dedicated reinsurance operation in Saudi Arabia offering treaty and facultative services, and expansion in South Africa and India.

Howden Re has published a report titled Breaking the Glass on the factors behind insurance and reinsurance market cycles. On 31 August 2026 it published Ronda's views on capital, volatility and change in the reinsurance market ahead of the Rendez-Vous de Septembre in Monte Carlo. TechScoop cited Toby Lambert of Howden Re in September 2026 saying average cyber reinsurance loss ratios had fallen from the high 80s and low 90s two or three years earlier to about 60 to 70 percent.

Howden Re is owned by the Howden group and does not publish separate financial statements on the pages reviewed.
