Qwacks, a Riyadh based gametech startup, has secured SAR 1.8 million in a pre seed round led by Merak Capital to expand its suite of backend, live ops and development tools that support game studios across Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region.
Founded in 2024, the company is building a unified technology layer for game creators and currently offers multiple products, including Flock, its Backend as a Service platform for multiplayer and online titles; Protokite, an AI enhanced play testing tool, and DataDuck, a market intelligence engine designed to help studios validate concepts.
Qwacks says the newly raised capital will be directed toward product expansion, improving platform reliability and onboarding additional game studios. The company also aims to grow its engineering and support teams as the demand for local game-tech solutions increases, according to reporting from Wamda.
The investment aligns with Saudi Arabia’s rapidly scaling gaming sector, which continues to see increased deal flow and government supported initiatives. In the first half of 2025 alone, the Kingdom led the MENA region with approximately USD 1.34 billion in overall startup funding, according to GulfBase.
Comparable companies in the region have also drawn notable rounds. Earlier this year, the mobile-focused Fahy Studios raised USD 1.75 million, as covered by Arab Founders. Meanwhile, Spekter Games, which operates at the intersection of gaming and Web3 technology, secured a USD 5 million seed round backed by Impact46 and other global funds, as reported by Startup 3lmashi.
Within this broader context, Qwacks is positioning itself not as a content studio but as an infrastructure provider, a segment that becomes increasingly essential as more Saudi-based developers enter the market. By offering scalable backend and analytics solutions locally, the company seeks to reduce dependence on foreign tooling and elevate the region’s development capabilities.
