The 9th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9) kicked off on October 27, 2025, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Organized by the FII Institute, the summit brought together more than 600 speakers and 20 heads of state under the theme, “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth.”
Over 7,500 delegates are attending this year, making it one of the largest gatherings of global leaders, investors, and innovators. The summit provides a platform to discuss pressing issues such as artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, and inclusive economic growth, with a focus on translating ideas into actionable strategies for shared prosperity.
During the opening sessions, Saudi Arabia’s Investment Minister, Khaled al-Falih, stressed the need for the government and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to scale back spending. He highlighted the importance of allowing the private sector to play a more significant role in driving the kingdom’s economic growth — a key goal of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues.
FII9’s roster of participants spans both government and business. Heads of state include Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. Leading global corporations such as Alphabet, Citi, and Snap Inc. are also represented, underscoring the summit’s role in bridging governmental and corporate perspectives.
Discussion topics this year are wide-ranging, covering responsible AI adoption, climate resilience, and sustainable energy transitions. Through high-level plenaries and interactive forums, participants are exploring innovative solutions to global challenges, with an emphasis on fostering inclusive economic growth.
